Bruno Spengler achieved his best result of the season so far at the Norisring with a 5th place in Race 1 and a 7th place in Race 2. It is the first time this year that the Canadian driver has a double points finish.

After a difficult start to the season, the 2012 champion certainly intended to redress the balance at his favorite track, where he won three times in the past. Qualifying for Race 1 saw Bruno amongst the fastest drivers on the Nuremberg street circuit, taking the 5th fastest time. He lost two positions at the start of the race but managed to hold on to the leaders. However, the BMW driver got these two positions back after a crash that wiped out Mattias Ekström(Audi) and Christian Vietoris (Mercedes). Spengler saw the checkered flag in 5th position.

The following day’s qualifying proved a bit more difficult with only a 14th best time for the Québécois driver. But a good start and the right strategy allowed him to finish in 7th position, taking home 16 points overall for the weekend.

Bruno Spengler currently ranks 13th in the championship, before the next round which will take place at Zandvoort (Holland) on July 16th and 17th.

“Picking up points from 14th on the grid is okay. We couldn’t have done any better. Qualifying was the problem once again. I battled with the balance of my car throughout the weekend. The positive is that I was still able to pick up points twice. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to finish any further up the field. Overall, it was a really great Norisring performance for BMW. Special thanks go to our pit crew at BMW Team MTEK. The guys did a fantastic job. Now we are focussing on Zandvoort”.
