After scoring two points in the DTM’s opening weekend (9th in Race 2), Bruno was hoping to score more in the championship’s second round at the Lausitzring.

The BMW teams quickly realised they faced huge difficulties compared to the other manufacturers, and Spengler finished Saturday’s qualifying session in 18th and last position. Race 1 saw him take an early pit stop (7th lap) for his tire change and he finished the race 14th.

The next day he qualified 12th and went into the pits on the 8th lap. Unfortunately, the gamble did not pay as he lost a few positions and finished the race in 16th position.

For the 2012 champion, it was a point-less weekend and a weekend to forget.

“This was a difficult for all BMWs, on a circuit that has not been kind to us for a few years. We will have to take a good look at our data sheets and analyse the Lausitzring races to try and find something between now and the next race. We will also have to try to find the reasons of our lack of performance compared to the other marques, so that we can come back stronger next time.”
