The 4th round of the DTM championship at the Norisring saw Bruno Spengler gain good points with a finish in 6th and 4th positions, at the wheel of his Team RBM BMW M4.

The Canadian driver put his car in the top 10 in qualifying 1 by being 9th on the grid. He made a good start, quickly getting up to 6th, right behind brand mate Philipp Eng. Out of DRS, he was not able to attack Eng and finished the race in 6th position, which still allowed to collect some good points.

“We had the speed in this first race. Unfortunately, I’d already used my DRS quota by the middle of the race and didn’t want to risk a move on Philipp so I remained in 6th position. All things considered, 4th or even 3rd place would have been possible.”

The next day, Spengler did even better in qualifying, putting his car 6th on the grid. A solid start and a good strategy allowed him to finish in 4th place, just short of a podium, with more points in the bag.

Bruno currently stands 9th in the championship.

“The car was not as fast as the day before, which is why I did not get a podium finish. During the race I made some overtaking moves on Auer and Di Resta, which was quite good. This was a weekend where we had a performance strong enough to finish in the top 5 regularly. We are now looking forward to the next round in Zandvoort in July where we will do our best to obtain a good result again with the help of our team which did a formidable job this weekend at the Norisring.”
