Cruel Luck For Spengler at Spa 24 Hours

Canadian Bruno Spengler held high hopes for the Spa 24 Hours, fourth round of the Blancpain Endurance Series.  Bruno had spent months preparing for this iconic event, his second 24 Hours enduro.  Spengler was partnered by BMW MTEK fellow DTM driver Timo Glock and former CART champion and paralympic gold medallist Alex Zanardi at the wheel of the ROAL Motorsport engineered BMW Z4 GT3 sporting a one off splendid Michel Vaillant comic inspired livery. This was the first time a disabled driver had been allowed to compete in a 24 hour race.  Alex Zanardi had both legs amputated at...

Another podium at Zandvoort for Bruno

Two weeks after his podium finish at the Norisring, Bruno does it again, this time at Zandvoort, for the fourth round of the DTM season.  The Canadian driver raced to a third position in Race 2, after taking fifth in race 1. The first two race weekends at Hockenheim and at the Lausitzring had been difficult for BMW but the Norisring found the team filled with renewed vigour, with a pole position for Spengler (his first and BMW’s first this season), and Bruno finishing the race in third place. Spengler and his team intended to build on the momentum...

Norisring: Spengler Strikes Back

After a lacklustre season opener at Hockenheim and more of the same at the Lausitzring, Bruno Spengler was back on form at the Norisring with not only this season’s first BMW pole but also the this season’s first podium for the Bavarian manufacturer. The crowds filling the streets of Nuremberg already got an idea that the Canadian driver was in very good shape during the Friday free practice session, when Spengler did the third best time. On the Saturday however, with a 20 minute session and a very tight grid due to the circuit’s relatively short length (2.3 kms),...

A new hope at the Norisring

The third round of the DTM Championship will take place this weekend at the Norisring and Bruno Spengler is determined to reach the podium again. The first four races did not work too well for him, allowing him to stray only once into the Top 10 (his 9th place at Hockenheim in Race 2). The Canadian driver is elated to return to his favourite track. He won there three times in the past, including his debut win in 2006. “I always enjoy driving at the Norisring. At first glance the circuit looks rather simple: 2 straights, 4 curves. In reality,...
