A weekend to forget at Spielberg

After the good results and a podium obtained at the last two DTM meetings at the Norisring and Zandvoort, Bruno Spengler endured a tough weekend at the Red Bull Ring. Following their winning streak in Holland, BMW got awarded additional ballast in Austria, according to DTM rules, and it complicated their weekend at a track full of inclines and the need for quick changes of direction.  Spengler, who was 6th in the rankings before the weekend, could not defend his championship hopes and neither could his team mates. The BMW M4s proved to be off the pace from the outset...

Another podium at Zandvoort for Bruno

Two weeks after his podium finish at the Norisring, Bruno does it again, this time at Zandvoort, for the fourth round of the DTM season.  The Canadian driver raced to a third position in Race 2, after taking fifth in race 1. The first two race weekends at Hockenheim and at the Lausitzring had been difficult for BMW but the Norisring found the team filled with renewed vigour, with a pole position for Spengler (his first and BMW’s first this season), and Bruno finishing the race in third place. Spengler and his team intended to build on the momentum...

Norisring: Spengler Strikes Back

After a lacklustre season opener at Hockenheim and more of the same at the Lausitzring, Bruno Spengler was back on form at the Norisring with not only this season’s first BMW pole but also the this season’s first podium for the Bavarian manufacturer. The crowds filling the streets of Nuremberg already got an idea that the Canadian driver was in very good shape during the Friday free practice session, when Spengler did the third best time. On the Saturday however, with a 20 minute session and a very tight grid due to the circuit’s relatively short length (2.3 kms),...
